Whoa! That's an ambitious goal. I know I do like to read short stories, as they are short enough to finish on the metro, and good to read when you don't have a ton of time to get through a novel, but it's hard to think of any SPECIFIC stories I've read lately. However, my favourite all-time short story has to be Breakfast at Tiffany's. Truman Capote just really gets the character of Holly Golightly so right. You don't even care that she's basically a jerk, since she's got so much personality. Plus it's all about the romance of New York City, how anything can happen, and you can make a name for yourself even if you come from nowhere. Brilliant.

I will have to read another Capote story now, although Breakfast at Tiffany's is a tough act to follow!
