Happy (Almost) Short Story Month

Join us for our tenth-annual celebration of the short story, as we dedicate the month of May to short fiction.

Tomorrow we kick off our tenth-annual celebration of Short Story Month, dedicating our May content exclusively to the short form. As always, we’ve lined up some wonderful features:

  • Interviews with Venita Blackburn, Yang Huang, Malinda McCollum, Kaitlin Solimine, and others.
  • Reviews of recent story collections by Vincent Chu, Lauren Groff, Maxim Loskutoff, Louise Marburg, Tatyana Tolstaya, Nafissa Thompson-Spires, and more.
  • Essays on Lucia Berlin and Anne Enright.
  • Stories We Love features on the work of such writers as Eileen Chang, Jack Driscoll, Alan Heathcock, Josephine Jacobsen, Lily King, Rebecca Lee, and Laura Hulthen Thomas.

We hope you’ll join us regularly throughout the next few weeks, and that you’ll help us spread the word.

In the meantime, here’s a 2011 guest post from Dan Wickett of The Emerging Writers Network and Dzanc Books on the origins of Short Story Month.
