Chloe Benjamin is a graduate of Vassar College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received her MFA in fiction. Her first novel, The Anatomy of Dreams (Atria/Simon & Schuster, September 2014), received the Council of Wisconsin Writers 2014 Edna Ferber Book-Length Fiction Prize and was long listed for the 2014 Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize. Her second novel, The Immortalists, was published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons in January of 2018. Other fiction, poetry, and reviews are published or forthcoming in The Atlantic, The Millions, Ninth Letter, PANK, and elsewhere. Her work has also been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
From the Archives: Chloe Benjamin speaks with her mentor and friend Judith Claire Mitchell about A Reunion of Ghosts, which took ten years to write. Mitchell says of the process, “When students are struggling with their own novels, I do understand what they’re going through and I think I’m often able to give them perspective on the nature of this massive, unwieldy, impossible enterprise that keeps them from giving up.”
