Rocco Samuele spent six years developing technology to observe extra solar planets, and in 2012, as he was wrestling with a short story, some of that technology launched into space. He’s an engineer, a fiction writer, and a two-part epoxy specialist. Though he has lived in rural Ohio, LA, and Ann Arbor, home has always felt like Cleveland. Recently, the University of Michigan granted him an MFA and a Postgraduate Zell Fellowship. He’s writing short stories and a novel.
The Peripatetic Coffin and Other Stories (Ecco), Ethan Rutherford’s fine debut collection, is part realism, part satire, part historical reclamation, and part dystopian prophecy. Of the eight stories in this collection, half tread in domestic realism, while half, give or take, are tales of survival.
