Born and raised in Mississippi, Gary Sheppard earned his MFA (Fiction) from the University of Mississippi and his PhD (English) from Florida State University. His short stories have appeared in several literary journals, including Redivider, Post Road, and New York Tyrant. He currently lives in Iowa City and has just started a new novel.
