Ruth Linnea Whitney is the author of Slim (SMU Press) and the forthcoming Mimosa Road (Adelaide Books). Both novels are set in sub-Saharan Africa, where Whitney lived for two years and where she has made lengthy stays as a volunteer, along with her husband, an Orthopaedic surgeon. An M.A. graduate of University of Nevada, Reno, her fiction and essays have appeared in Threepenny Review, Kaleidoscope, Natural Bridge, Assisi, Town & Country, and elsewhere.
